Fixing the Address Book Name Completion Search Order

GroupWise versions 5 and later have a real neat feature called ‘Name Completion’.This is the feature, which fills up the address part of the mail message as you start to type into it. With the latest update (version 5.5.4), if you have multiple address books, you now have the ability to even specify the specific address books and their search order for the ‘name search’.This feature, however, has to be setup whenever GroupWise is installed (or re-installed) on your computer. Here are the steps:

1.Start up the GroupWise Address Book either from the GroupWise toolbar (left most icon) or from the Start | Programs | GroupWise 5 folder.

2. When the address book opens, the first thing you want to do is to close the Frequent Contacts book by right clicking with your mouse on the Frequent Contacts tab and picking Close Book

3.Next you want to go to the File | Name Completion Search Order menu option.

4.This will give you a screen which shows the address books that are currently being used for the Name Completion process.  The first thing you do, again, is to remove Frequent Contacts from the right hand window (Selected Books) by highlighting it and clicking on the Remove button. This will make it move to the left hand window (Available Books). Next you highlight the personal address book(s) from the left hand window that you want to use, and click on the Add button so they show up on the right hand window.  You can change search order the for multiple address books by going to the Book Position box on the lower right hand part of the screen.

That’s it – you are done.  You can now close the address book and start using GroupWise.
